Solar savings calculator

Pop in your power bill and get a rough idea of the solar system size that suits your home – and how much it could save you each year.

Your power use

$
per quarter
It's on your bill, usually shown as "total usage" in kWh. If you leave it blank we'll work it out from your bill amount.
Solar power is worth the most when it's used as it's made, during the day.
Change the assumptions

Starting figures are typical for homes on the Mid North Coast (Essential Energy network). Your bill shows your actual prices.

This is a rough estimate only – not a quote or a guarantee of savings. Real results depend on your roof (direction, angle and shade), your actual power prices and when you use power. We'll give you an accurate figure after a free site assessment.

What goes into the numbers

Your usage

We work out your average daily power use from your bill – or from the kWh figure if you entered it.

System size

We suggest a common system size that makes about as much power over a year as you use, using typical Mid North Coast sunshine.

Using it as it's made

Solar you use yourself saves the full power price. What you don't use goes to the grid for a much smaller feed-in credit.

Adding a battery

A battery stores daytime solar for the evening, so more of it saves you the full price instead of earning a small credit.

Government rebates can reduce the upfront cost of solar and batteries. We'll include whatever currently applies to you when we quote. Want to keep an existing system working at its best? See our solar & battery servicing.
